About

Every name carries a meaning — a thread that reaches back through language, history, and the people who carried it before. Nameframe turns that thread into something you can hold.

It began with four names

Nameframe started with a gift we weren’t sure how to give.

When my brother’s family grew — four children, and an ocean between us — we wanted to send something that said we saw each of them, even from the other side of the Atlantic. Not a card. Not something off a shelf. Something made for them, and them alone.

So we made it ourselves: each child’s name, the meaning behind it, and a short poem written just for them, burned into wood. The first four frames read Lucy, Sam, Maya, and Noah.

We never set out to start a company. But the thing we’d made for one family turned out to be something a lot of people had been looking for — a way to tell someone, plainly, I see exactly who you are. That’s how Nameframe was born.

Today it’s made by Yellow Lab Creations, a family-run studio in Indian Land, South Carolina. Every piece is still made to order, one name at a time — there’s no shelf of finished frames waiting for a name. Yours begins the moment you design it.

Made by hand. Burned, not printed.

Each frame is premium engineered wood — chosen so it won’t warp — in your choice of Birch, Cherry, or Sapele finish, cut on a CO₂ laser and finished by hand. The name, its meaning, and the poem are burned through the surface — never inked, never a sticker — so they will outlive the photograph they hold.

How it works

  1. Share a name. Type any name, choose pronouns, and tell us the themes you’d like woven into the poem — courage, music, the ocean, whatever matters most.
  2. We look it up and write it. We find the name’s verified meaning, then write an original poem inspired by it and your themes — right in front of you. Don’t love it? Regenerate until it feels right.
  3. We bind it to a frame. Once the meaning and poem are perfect, we laser-engrave them into your chosen wood, beside a slot for your favorite photo.
